Overview

Consulting firms tend to run two frameworks in parallel: a quality management system built for the certificate, and an informal delivery method built for the work. This package merges them. ISO 9001:2015 supplies the backbone — context, leadership, planning, support, operation, performance evaluation and improvement — while the ISO 20700:2017 guidelines for management consultancy services sit inside the operational clauses as the engagement life cycle of contracting, execution and closure.

Around that spine runs a consolidated policy suite covering quality, ethical and professional conduct, data protection and confidentiality, intellectual property, and social responsibility with health and safety. The procedures follow an assignment from intake and contract review, through design of the service, execution and change control, to deliverable acceptance, service release and closure. Conflict of interest, associates and subcontractors, nonconforming outputs, customer satisfaction and complaints are each controlled. The audit tooling is deliberately combined: an ISO 9001:2015 internal audit checklist and an ISO 20700 assignment life-cycle checklist assess both in one pass, with a certification readiness gap checklist for firms preparing to be audited.

What this system covers

  • Contracting — client and assignment intake, contract review and scope agreement
  • Design and development of consulting services as a controlled process
  • Assignment execution — work plans, governance, progress reporting and change control
  • Closure — deliverable verification, client acceptance, service release and closure review
  • Conflict of interest, confidentiality and intellectual property across concurrent clients
  • Associates and subcontractors — evaluation and control of externally provided services
  • Combined internal audit of ISO 9001 conformity and ISO 20700 alignment
  • Customer satisfaction, complaints, nonconforming outputs and corrective action

Who it's for

Managing partners, quality managers and operations leads in consultancies and professional-services firms, typically at the point where a tender demands ISO 9001 or a certification audit has been scheduled. Firms at that point want the delivery method documented alongside the management system, not two sets of paperwork describing the same engagement. The end state is one evidence set serving both standards, duplication stripped out of document control, prepared ground for an ISO 9001 certification audit, and an ISO 20700 alignment the firm can self-declare with real practice behind it.
