Overview
GSO 394/1994 governs the colouring substances added to cosmetic products in Gulf markets, permitting them by class of use rather than by one open list. This bilingual workbench takes a colourant by colour index number or by name, returns its permitted class with the field-of-application and purity restrictions attached, and records the conformity outcome for the formulation under review. A shade range is worked through colour by colour, then printed as evidence for a product information file or registration dossier — from one self-contained file that runs offline.
What it covers
- Colourant identification by colour index number or common name
- Permitted class of use for each substance under GSO 394/1994
- Field-of-application limits — where in a range a colour may and may not be used
- Purity restrictions carried by individual colouring substances
- Conformity outcomes recorded per ingredient and per formulation
Who it's for
Cosmetic manufacturers and contract formulators, importers bringing foreign brands into the Gulf, product-safety assessors compiling information files, and inspection bodies checking what is in a pack. Most arrive with a shade range awaiting registration, and leave with a printed verification for every colour in the formula.
