It also covers traceability, product defence, mitigation of fraud, and control of product integrity, adapting the risk-based approach used across IFS standards to the particular hazards of household and personal care manufacturing, such as chemical safety, formulation control and correct labelling. By sharing the IFS methodology and scoring approach, it enables consistent assessment and benchmarking alongside other IFS schemes, supporting retailers and brand owners who source both food and non-food products. Certification is carried out by approved certification bodies through a third-party audit using the IFS scoring system with knock-out criteria, and certificates are issued for a defined validity period maintained through renewal audits.
