Overview
A Halal Assurance System scoped to animal feed production, written so one documented system answers five regimes: GSO in the Gulf, the UAE national standard UAE.S, JAKIM in Malaysia, SJPH under BPJPH in Indonesia, and the OIC/SMIIC series. Where they diverge, the strictest common criterion applies, so the manual and procedures are not rewritten per market. Feed sits upstream, and its integrity supports the Halal status of the wider food chain.
A mill runs on shared assets: intake, mixing and conveying equipment carries several formulations in a day, so a batch's Halal status depends on what ran before it and how the line was cleaned. Approval is therefore documented at material level, porcine derivatives, blood meal and other prohibited materials are excluded outright, and cleaning between runs is verified rather than assumed. An internal Halal committee owns the approvals, audits, training and corrective action between external assessments.
What this system covers
- Feed material permissibility — ingredient, additive and premix approval against documented evidence.
- Incoming verification — supplier Halal evidence and a material risk assessment checked before a lot enters the mill.
- Formulation and production control — batch monitoring tying each run to approved formulations and materials.
- Segregation and changeover — dedicated lines, run sequencing, verified cleaning and ritual cleansing (sertu) after a prohibited material has run.
- Storage, transport and distribution — identification and segregation held from silo to delivery point.
- Traceability and recall — lots followed from intake to delivered feed, with the recall route set out in advance.
- Labelling and Halal mark control — claim wording and artwork approved against supplier declarations before print.
Who it's for
Feed millers, compound feed and premix producers, and integrators running their own mills for Halal-certified livestock and poultry chains. The usual trigger is a customer or regulator pushing Halal assurance upstream into feed, or an assessment against more than one scheme in a year. What they hand over at audit is approved-material evidence, cleaning verification and lot traceability — the same records whichever regime is asking.
