Overview
Food establishments are obliged to train the people who touch food, and municipal licensing and food-safety requirements make that obligation explicit. This is the workforce-level course that meets it: a classroom programme covering foodborne hazards and how contamination occurs, personal hygiene and health reporting, safe receiving and storage, temperature control through cooking, cooling and holding, cross-contamination prevention, allergen awareness, and the basics of cleaning and pest control.
It is built so that any competent instructor can pick it up and teach it consistently. Session plans, delivery notes and answer keys carry the trainer through each topic; learners keep a workbook of exercises and reference material; a slide deck supports delivery in the room; knowledge tests with scoring guidance turn attendance into evidenced competence; and registration, attendance and certificate templates record who was trained and when. Training providers, caterers, hotels and food factories running internal programmes can brand the material as their own. What the business ends up with is a food-handler programme an inspector or auditor can see is systematic, assessed and documented, rather than merely claimed.
What this system covers
- Foodborne hazards and how contamination reaches food
- Personal hygiene and health reporting — what handlers do daily, and when illness must be declared
- Receiving and storage — taking deliveries in and keeping them safe until use
- Temperature control — cooking, cooling and holding
- Cross-contamination prevention — keeping raw and ready-to-eat work apart
- Allergen awareness in preparation and service
- Cleaning and pest control basics on the shop floor
- Knowledge testing and scoring — showing that each handler understood the course
Who it's for
Caterers, hotels, restaurants and food factories, and the training providers who serve them: anyone who has to put new starters and existing staff through basic hygiene training and hold the records afterwards. The trigger is a licensing condition, a municipal inspection, a customer audit, or simply a new intake of staff arriving. Once delivered, the business holds trained handlers, marked assessments and certificates on file, and a course it can run again next month without rebuilding it.
