Overview
A sector-specific Halal Assurance System for cattle and other large ruminants. It consolidates the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), Malaysia's JAKIM, Indonesia's SJPH administered by BPJPH, the OIC/SMIIC standards and the UAE national standard (UAE.S), taking the strictest common criterion at each control point so one documented system holds in all five jurisdictions. Scope runs the whole line: animal reception, ante-mortem inspection, the slaughter act, bleeding, dressing, post-mortem inspection, chilling and dispatch.
Ritual controls are documented rather than assumed. Slaughter (dhabh and nahr) is performed by a competent, trained Muslim slaughterman using a sharp implement with the prescribed invocation; any permitted stunning must be non-lethal and verifiably reversible, with that verification recorded. Complete bleeding is confirmed, carrion and improperly slaughtered animals are excluded, and carcass identification, Halal stamping and physical segregation through chillers, deboning and dispatch prevent mixing with non-Halal production. Accredited or mutually recognised certification bodies assess it against the combined requirements, maintained through ongoing surveillance.
What this system covers
- Animal reception, welfare handling and ante-mortem inspection
- Slaughterman qualification, tool condition and the slaughter act (dhabh and nahr)
- Stunning control and verification of a non-lethal, reversible stun
- Bleeding confirmation, with isolation and disposal of non-Halal carcasses
- Carcass stamping, certification and segregated chilling, deboning and dispatch
- Equipment cleaning and ritual cleansing; facility registration and dedication
- Where the five regimes diverge, checked individually as well as together
- Internal integrated audit, corrective action, management review and slaughterman competence
Who it's for
Cattle abattoirs, beef processors and the Halal consultants advising them, exporting to more than one Muslim market where a file per scheme has become unmanageable. The trigger is usually a certification body assessment, a new market registration, or a single-scheme certificate that no longer covers the export list. You finish with one system, a slaughter-floor record trail and regime-specific checklists, so an assessor from any of the five frameworks works from the same evidence.
