GSO HAS - Processed Foods

Complex recipes are where Halal control is hardest: one product can carry dozens of raw materials, additives, enzymes, flavourings and processing aids, each with its own provenance, and that complexity is what makes ingredient control decisive. This kit documents a sector-specific Halal Assurance System for processed food manufacturing under the HAS framework of the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO), the regional standardization body of the Gulf Cooperation Council states, applied alongside the GSO 2055 series of product and certification standards. Its premise is that Halal integrity is held in place by the manufacturer's own continuous discipline, not by the outcome of a periodic inspection.

Nothing enters a formulation without documented approval. Alcohol, porcine and other prohibited derivatives are excluded, with particular attention to hidden sources such as gelatine, emulsifiers, rennet and carrier solvents; verification covers ethanol and microbial materials alongside animal-derivative consignments of meat, fats and enzymes. Reformulation moves through change control rather than being settled at the bench. On the floor, scheduling and validated cleaning separate Halal from non-Halal runs, with ritual cleansing where required, and traceability runs from ingredient lot to finished product so any claim can be reconstructed afterwards. Internal audit against GSO 2055-1 feeds the Halal committee's management review and corrective actions.
