Exclusion first, pesticides last: an integrated pest management code that starts at the drawing board.
Overview
The cheapest pesticide ever devised is a wall, and the whole programme is built on that order of preference. This is the international edition of source regulation PHC-C-10, aligned with the FAO/WHO International Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management, the WHO Integrated Vector Management framework and EN 16636. Its 34 sections set the roles of the authority, the operator and the occupant, then work through exclusion, denial of sustenance and monitoring before any chemical is approved, ending in target-specific programmes. Annexes supply proofing specifications, programme tables, a field guide to reading evidence, inspection checklists and a pesticide and fumigation safety reference. One editable code to adopt or audit against, not a management system.
What it covers
- Design and construction for pest exclusion — the plan approval gate, termite pretreatment and maintenance of proofing
- Denial of sustenance — garbage, harbourage, outdoor storage and standing water control
- Monitoring and the evidence rule — surveys, the extensive-harbourage report, devices, trend analysis and efficacy verification
- Pesticides and fumigation — approval, professional use, domestic compounds, application discipline and restrictions
- Target programmes — rodents, flying and crawling insects, birds, animals and termites
Who it's for
Pest control companies and licensed applicators, facility and property managers, municipal health departments, and food industry hygiene teams building or auditing an IPM programme. It answers the moment a client, an inspector or a food safety scheme asks what your programme amounts to beyond a spray schedule.
