Everything a public pool is inspected on, from diving geometry to disinfectant residual.
Overview
Every bather is at once the pool's customer and its principal contaminant, so a pool is run as engineering plant and as a water supply at once. This guideline is the international edition of source regulation PHC-C-11, aligned with the WHO Guidelines for Safe Recreational Water Environments (Volume 2) and EN 15288 Parts 1 and 2, covering public pools, spa pools and the bathhouse serving them.
Half the code is structure — basin, decks, ladders, lighting and electrical safety — and half is plant. It is one editable reference guideline, with water chemistry quick references, design and hydraulics tables and a daily operating reference annexed.
What it covers
- Operating licence, operator examination, plan approval and structural certification
- Basin design — materials, user loading, slopes, depths, markings and diving geometry
- Recirculation and turnover hydraulics, gutters, skimmers, filtration and chemical feed, including gas chlorine safety
- Spa pool suction safety and turnover, the bathhouse fixture schedule, and chemical, physical and microbiological parameters with their sampling rules
- Lifeguards, bather rules, lifesaving equipment, emergency readiness, inspection and closure on enforcement
Who it's for
Pool owners and operators, hotels, clubs and municipalities, aquatic facility designers and engineers, and the health inspectors who license public pools and spas. A licence renewal, a new basin or an incident brings it in, leaving one written operating and inspection regime for geometry, hydraulics, chemistry and supervision.
