Overview
SNI 99002 and SNI 99003 are Indonesian National Standards inside the country's mandatory Halal certification regime. They support the Halal product assurance system known as SJPH, overseen by BPJPH, the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency, with the associated fatwa and inspection bodies, and define requirements for the Halal product process and the assurance system behind it. In one of the world's largest Halal markets, conformity is for many categories a legal condition of sale.
Assessment is split by species and by process: poultry slaughtering against SNI 99002:2016, ruminant slaughtering against SNI 99003:2018, each with its own route and evidence. At the line the auditor works through who performed the slaughter and the competence evidence behind them, whether the method conforms to the standard for that species, and — where stunning is applied beforehand — the animal welfare verification. Behind the line sits the SJPH obligation on the certified operation: ingredient origin, segregation, traceability and cleansing under a named Halal supervisor.

The scheme then settles which species standard governs an applicant and which auditor may sign for it.
