Overview

An internal halal audit is only useful if its findings are clear enough to act on. A note such as 'cleaning needs improving' does not tell anyone what to fix. This course teaches audit principles, criteria and planning, then the discipline of a good finding: the criterion, the evidence, the statement and the grade.

Trainees learn to audit the critical areas of a halal site, including the slaughter hall, then carry out a practical audit of a fictional case site, Example Foods, with planted findings. The trainee workbook holds templates for an audit programme, audit plan, checklist structure, finding form, audit report and competence record. The checklist structure follows the sections of a certification body's general halal checklist, and you complete it from your own certification body's documents. A slide deck with notes, an exam pack with keys and a certificate template that records training given by your organisation complete the package.

Audit principles follow ISO 19011. Audit criteria draw on GSO 2055-1:2015, GSO 993:2015, GSO 2055-2:2021, OIC/SMIIC 1:2019 and MS 1500:2019. Standards are referenced by number and title only, and no standard text is included. AGS is independent and is not affiliated with any halal certification body or standards organisation.

Who it's for

Internal auditors nominated by the halal committee, halal executives, quality auditors adding halal to their scope, and supplier auditors.

It builds on the Halal Assurance System Training Package, which teaches the system these auditors examine. Our halal management system kits document the requirements the site is audited against.
