Overview
Part 2 of the UAE aquaculture standard, UAE.S 5043-2:2021, Organic Feed, governs ingredients, sourcing, manufacture, storage, transport and the integrity of the organic claim through to the feeding of the stock. What the standard really tests is chain of custody, and the procedures and forms follow one question through the plant: did organic material stay organic, and was non-organic material kept physically and documentarily apart from it? That means supplier organic certification verified before material is accepted, approval of additives, processing aids and mineral materials, separation rules for simultaneous production and conversion, batch records at manufacture, cleaning and changeover of equipment, vehicle cleaning before loading, marine raw material traceability reconciled by mass balance, and residue calculated against maximum residue limits. Labelling and claim verification close the chain.
